1 Join the Live Lesson
Primary at 9:30am • Secondary at 10:00am
Time: 20 mins

2 Capture your own Carbon Data
Using our Carbon Capture Worksheets,
capture your own data for the following 3 categories:
• Household Energy Use
• Transport Use
• Food & Drink Consumption
Time: 30 mins

3 Calculate your Carbon Footprint
• Enter your Audit Worksheet data into the Carbon Footprint Calculator
and spot high‑CO₂ patterns.
• Choose three pledges to reduce your carbon footprint.
• Model your pledges in the Calculator to estimate CO₂ reduction over time.
Time: 60 mins

4 Create your Data-Driven Infographic Poster
• Design and create a data-driven infographic to communicate
the 3 Pledges you have committed to.
• Include your modelled CO2 reduction data in your poster.
• The poster can be hand drawn or digitally produced.
Time: 120 mins

5 Submit Your Class Entry
Upload one infographic poster per class along with the entry form, which includes your class details and the pupils’ three pledges. You’ll submit everything through your login area, where your upload portal is located.
Once your entry is received, we’ll send certificates for every pupil who took part.
Outcome:
By the end of the day, pupils will:
Have completed the full challenge
Made 3 pledges to keep until next year
Created their final infographic
Be ready to submit their entry

What do teachers need?
A device with Teams access, the STATWARS resource pack and colouring Pens/Pencils, Paper.
How long does it take?
20-minute live lesson + the rest of Earth Day to complete the project.
How many pupils can join?
As many as you like — class, year group or whole school.
Do we need to register first?
Yes. Once registered, you can download resources and book the live session.
Where do we submit entries?
Through your STATWARS login area after completing the challenge.
What if I am interested in the live lesson but can’t make it?
No problem! The live session will be recorded and added to the Resources Page. As long as you have registered for the competition, you will have access to the recording whenever you need it.
What if we can join the live lesson but can’t complete the challenge on the same day?
You can complete the competition whenever it suits your class. STATWARS is flexible — you can deliver it in a lesson, a day, a week, or even longer depending on your timetable. The Earth Day session is simply a kick-off opportunity.
